Conky's gone mad and left the trailer park!

Well there's not much to add to that title...

Firstly my start up script no longer works. So I tried another...
I tried starting my various conky rc's via the konsole, no dice.

It's conky madness I tell you!

One of my scripts even tells me in a konsole that every configuration option "no such configuration". What?

I know 1.8.1 is not as solid as previous versions but I've never seen this before. Beware conky users. Fun times are abound!

I'll try uninstalling all traces of conky and try installing again, but I'm not hopeful.

Conky works fine here, with my 12.04. I don't have custom user conky rc's - just the default, modified, conky.conf in /etc/conky, and I have it launched as a from Startup and Shutdown, pointing to /usr/bin/conky
Windows no longer obstructs my view.

I'd not long responded to Flip the Switch's 'case of the disappearing conky' comments just before my conky went delirious. During the previous 24 hrs I'd noted some oddities with screen output not updating or displaying and attributed this behaviour to a new start/stop button placed in the system tray (Thanks again OneLine). I had 3 conkyrc's running in this fashion from a chain-loaded start script and all but 1 calling external scripts; the short calender script I use with 'when' seemed the most reliable of the 3 but on occasion it too played up at the hands of the other 2.

It seems these oddities with native conky variables are somewhat common around here at the moment and I think these are probably best viewed as teething problems in 12.04_64.

My bigger concern is regarding these external scripts I use that run without errors in a konsole and then just vanish. I had the same notion with the actual start script that momentarily flickered but never to return.

Apart from my new "switch", my conkyrc's and start script are well tested on the Ubuntu base and have never given me any problem so I'm confident this time that I need to look outside of my scripts.

But to what? Conky. Plasma. QT.

So far so good. Conky has run all day today and with no problems. (fingers and toes crossed)

Considering the recent issues I've had with conky lately I'm surprised my conky's run and update normally at all once I get them running.
My conky problems stem with a reboot or logout and then all hell breaks loose.

I finally got a system crash related to conky and filed a bug report on Launchpad. There were two almost identical bug reports but both were missing key backtrace details.
The logs I reported seemed to contain a little more information so hopefully the developers can make a start on identifying the specific problem.

I just checked the the bug I posted earlier after receiving an activity notification by email. It seems some developers are now resorting to using 'bots' to verify a bugs integrity.

Can anyone shed some light on why when viewing processes in System Monitor, my conkys show up greyed-out after initiating but then disappear again?

Upgraded to Conky 1.8.2 and all is well on desktop land once again.
