Latest updates crashes muon and synaptic!

    libapt-pkg.so.4.12.0

    is where the segfault is.

    sudo apt-get update
    sudo apt-get upgrade

in a Konsole seems to still work, but it also leaves behind msgs:

    doesn't have any affect.

So, muon update can't update any more.

I forgot to add that updating the muon apps didn't work.

BUT, miraculously, it just started working again, without crashing.

That's unacceptable GG. You can't just mark a thread solved without posting the actual fix.

I'm beginning to think we need a "problem went away by itself" tag ...
I'd rather be locked out than locked in.

I updated this morning and haven't run into any such issue. I guess I'm lucky!

          I didn't do anything!

          All the usual fixes using
          apt-get -f install
          dpkg --configure -a

return no problems, but muon and synaptic crashed everything I tried to use them. Rebooting didn't help.
Then, mysteriously, everything worked as it should again.
          I didn't really do anything.

The problem appeared when, during the earlier update this morning, muon crashed. I opened synaptic and it worked OK, so I finished the update. On the second update muon crashed again. I opened synaptic and it crashed as well. I used the Konsole and the commands listed above to complete the updates. A while later, after I made my post, muon was triggered by another update and worked like it usually had before the problems.
