After last update I'm seeing this behavior too.

        Confirmed as a bug. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/951725

            problem still occurs..

Hopefully there will be a fix for this. I recently upgraded to Kubuntu 12.04, with nvidia 295.20 and this still happens, to me and other users on my desktop. Restarting the X server seems to fix it too, but not really an acceptable solution.

This is what it looks like:

Do you mean the problem was present in an older version of Kubuntu as well? I had 10.10 before installing 12.04, and I experienced no such issue there.

Just to let you know, I see the same problem in 11.10. Using nVidia X Server Settings workaround as mentioned before

Looks like the latest update has added a workaround to this issue. KDE now defaults to restarting X server when you log out. This means I at least won't have to manually restart X when I mean to simply log out.

I'm not seeing the same issue; however, the ticket has not been closed. I'm assuming that a more perm solution is being worked.
