    Ghost Buttons on Taskbar Fixed!

Just applied updates today, 129MB worth. Looks like a lot of fixes. One of the minor irritations in KDE for a while now is the bug involving ghost buttons remaining on the panel after closing an application/window. It looks like they finally got around to squashing that bug. Since the update I've opened/closed most of the apps and upon closing was left with a clean task area every time. Thank you KDE and Kubuntu for bringing the distro a little closer to perfection.

Out of interest what level did you update to? 4.8 or 4.7.4?

Now that you mention it I haven't seen this bug for weeks, and it might have been since I upgraded to 4.7.4. I'm still on Oneiric so I guess this is an upstream KDE fix in 4.7.4, not a Kubuntu packaging fix in Precise.
I'd rather be locked out than locked in.

I seem to recall this was a qt bug (rather than kde), perhaps there has been qt fixes in both oneiric and precise?

Yes, this is correct on both counts.

Unfortunately the problem hasn't been fixed for me by upgrading to Precise. Nor was it fixed in Oneiric with KDE 4.8. Anybody know what QT file contains the fix?

It should be OK as soon 32bit build ends - some packages (architecture independent - *all.deb) are built only on 32bit

I'm unsure if i understand this right. Does that mean that for the final 12.04 release i will need a custom PPA to make a basic component like the taskbar work?

I'm up to date as of March 16 2012, referring to 2 installs running 11.10, but on both systems, I see the ghost icons... might I assume the Qt fix has not been brought into the official repos?

FWIW, the PPA listed in the kubuntu-dev mailing list thread (the same thread which is cited above) is nla.

Should be fixed in the precise main repos with the latest qt uploads (4.8.0-1ubuntu11)...don't know the status for oneiric.
