Upgrade notification frequency

I have Kubuntu 11.10 and the upgrade to 12.04 pops open very often, like every hour.
Why so often? How can I stop the pop up notification? I can see the upgrade is available from Apper.
I don't see the benefit from nagging the user.

Notification settings: KDE System Settings > Application and System Notifications

Apper: System Settings > Application and System Notifications > Event source: Apper Notification.
