Dependency problem KDE 4.8 from backports ppa

When I add the backports ppa to my sources.list and attempt to upgrade I get the following dependency problem.

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
    kdepim-groupware: Depends: libkdepim4 (= 4:4.7.4+git111222-0ubuntu0.1) but 4:4.8.0a-0ubuntu1~oneiric1~ppa1 is to be installed.
    open: 608; closed: 556; defer: 580; conflict: 2583
The following actions will resolve these dependencies:

Followed by a bizillion packages that would need to be removed to make this work

    Any suggestions?

    $ uname -a
    Linux lemix 3.0.0-15-generic #26-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 20 17:23:00 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

give it time the packages could still be building then do another update/ upgrade.

Do you have any third party repos installed? They can cause problems during large upgrades.

That problem is in Precise (12.04) as well, which is where I first encountered it. I bypassed the block by specifically installing the libkdepim4 then reselecting kdepim and installing it without getting the "to remove" message. When I ran the pim it gave a blank GUI with only the controls in the upper right corner, so the library incompatibilieis are more than skin deep.

What sithlord48 says. When they get Precise to load it the fix will probably be uploaded to Oneric as well.

My upgrade to KDE 4.8 worked fine, carried out last night.
For a full KDE upgrade I generally log in to command prompt, not desktop.

To add PPA I do -

          sudo apt-add-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
          Then
          sudo apt-get update
          sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

          Quick reboot, just in case

          No problems found so far!.

The ease with which my upgrade went I'm really looking forward to next Kubuntu release.
It will be a LTS version using what I consider the most stable KDE yet.
