    KDE Menu Editor : BROKEN (Kubuntu 11.10 - 64-bit)

    Is it just my installation or is KDE Menu Editor broken?

    Right-clicking the K button and choosing Edit Applications opens the menu editor, but I can only add a new item -- not set its properties.
    Eg:
    - Right-click on Internet and choose New Item
    - Add the Item Name "Firefox"
    - Click OK
    - And that's it. Nothing else. Nowhere to link to the executable, change the icon, etc.

    And right-clicking existing entries doesn't give me a Properties box for them either. Yet installing new software adds items to the menu OK!?

    Here KDE 4.7.4 - 32 bit (http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3098839.0, http://www.kubuntu.org/kde-sc-474) the Menu editor is working.

    There was problem with the older version: http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3118688.0.

    Something to try: Make a new user. Log in as the new user. Does the new user have the same problem ?

      Thanks OneLine. Yup, going in as a new user worked, meaning that my old kmenueditrc file was somehow invaild. Renaming it then opening KDE Menu Editor created a new one (obviously!) and a comparison showed the faulty command:

      SplitterSizes=625,0

      Setting the second parameter to anything but 0 gives the Properties panel!

      So, problem solved!
