The basic ideas of using the virtual desktops are the same it is in the nuances.

I was just trying to get across to SR how one might actually use the particular capabilities.

And, a lot of it is also "habit". A lot of "rants" that one sees from people is not that this or that way is "better" it is really how they are used to doing it.

As to the ctrl-f11 and mouse for rotating the cube, yes, that is correct, but with the video card that I had the rotation was very imprecise.

There is a "motto" something like "Le experience es mi comforte". Or something like that, it means something like: "The experience is my comfort"!

Which was exactly the point of my post. Not so much the technical aspects of using Compiz in KDE but instead the usability benefits. Not knowing much at all about Compiz, I find KWin satisfactory. But if there are tricks people have learned with Compiz that simplify daily workflow, and these don't have comparable KWin methods, that's what I think all of us would enjoy learning.

The easiest thing to say is that aside from things like being able to write in flames on the screen, they are pretty much both the same so if you have fiddled with Kwin you have seen most, if not all, of the "productivity" stuff.

I do miss seeing my closed window go up in flames. But woodsmoke, I think there are a number of serious productivity details in Compiz still not available in KWin - like the much wider range of keyboard, mouse and screen edge combinations you can make use of.

Thanks for keeping me on my toes...I step on my foot quite often!

I, personally, have not used that aspect of compiz very much(screen edge). My use is pretty much brute force, flipping from face to face and using the transparency capabilities.

If you would care to expand on it a little, I, for one, and I am sure that SR also, would like to read your comments.
