DVD playing issues

I am not sure when tis happened, but I cannot play videos (FLV / MPEG) from my harddrive / DVD drive anymore.

Three days it worked just fine. Now neither VLC nor Dragon play anything.

I can watch youtube / NFL videos from my browser so I am not really sure what is causing this.

All the medibuntu stuff is installed.

Edit: when I open a movie in kdenlive I can scroll through the movie and see the scenes. When i try to play the movie the the kdenlive monitor goes gray.

have you tried a reinstall of VLC and or the kubuntu-restricted-extras yet.

it's working fine hear still.

I just did that and now playing vlc or dragonplayer crashes kwin.

Okay, I gave up and had to reinstall as I need to edit some videos.

I had been using the xorg-edgers PPA for my graphics drivers. Just wondering if an update a few days ago killed my video playing capabilities on my machine. Although it is beyond me why I could play videos from FF browser.

I'm having the same problem. When I try to run a video it looks like green screen. What's happing? Any solution?

Can you play videos in your browser? (youtube, etc)
