    ktimetracker is broken: alternatives? workarounds?

    So ktimetracker is broken in oneiric.
    Any suggestions for alternatives or workarounds?

    Something to keep track of time spent on tasks ...

    Thanks

    Hi
    I completely missed this post, I'll check what I can and report back.

      Hi
      If you are still checking the message, I have checked Ktimetracker, and it is working for me in terms of "setting a task to do" WITHIN the app itself, but I have not seen it show up in calendar and I have not observed a "task" in calendar move to the time tracker itself.

      It may just be a syncing thing and I'll continue to fiddle with it, but if you are still checking this thread you might post some more information about your particular problem.

        Hi,
        There seems to be a bug in ktimetracker and/or kdepim that means it doesn't work in oneric
        https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...im/+bug/864975

        Try to start ktimetracker I get a nice windows saying
        "Could not create the KTimeTracker part."
        gives me a nice empty box. If I open it from the console:
        QPainter::begin: Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 2
        QPainter::setCompositionMode: Painter not active
        QPainter::begin: Paint device returned engine == 0, type: 2
        Object::connect: No such slot TimetrackerWidget::updateTabs()
        Object::connect: No such slot ktimetrackerpart::keyBindings()
        Object::connect: (sender name: 'options_configure_keybinding')
        I'm using the Task Timer widget for the time being, but hope to get back to using ktimetracker once it's fixed.

          Re: ktimetracker is broken: alternatives? workarounds?

          Hi
          Time tracker was working just fine last week. I could set a time, the little clock contentedly rotated and it tracked the time of the task.

          I don't normally use it so I let things go with my previous post but....

          oday, when I opened time tracker and tried to "edit times" it crashed with the following message:

          Error storing new task. Your changes were not saved. Make sure you can edit your iCalendar file. Also quit all applications using this file and remove any lock file related to its name from ~/.kde/share/apps/kabc/lock/

          a) I went to the above pathway and found nothing in the folder "lock"
          b) I don't use the ical file, I use Akonadai

          so, it must have been in one of the updates and there were a LOT of updates just two days ago to Kontact.

            As of the date of this writing, there was, again, a slew of updates for Kontact but Timetracker is still not working, with the following message when "edit times" is clicked:

            Executable: kontact PID: 2098 Signal: Segmentation fault (11)
