[Solved] 2 Computers, same Kubuntu11.10, different program versions

Yes, I know the title is a bit cryptic, but it gets more clear when I explain what I mean:

I have 2 computers, 1 desktop, 1 laptop, both equipped with Kubuntu 11.10 installed from the same DVD.
On both computers I have done all the available updates.
In Muon I see that I have the same version, still there are differences in the layout.
Clementine on the laptop has version 0.71, the desktop has 0.73.
Maybe there are other examples but I didn't see them yet.

I checked the repositories and I see exactly the same on both computers, all the tabs are filled out exactly the same.

Who can explain this? What do I do wrong, what am I missing?

I am now cureus as to how you got a Clementine 0.7.3 as the repo and Clementine web page show 0.7.1?

Re: 2 Computers, same Kubuntu11.10, different program versions

Both computers gave me: 0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded on your update and dist-upgrade suggestion.

How did I get Clementine 0.7.3? Must have been through the repos? When I look in my desktop computer I also see 0.7.3 there, but that must be obvious since it is installed.

But it is not only Clementine. When I look in Muon I also see differences:
Click on an installed program. Below the list of programs you get info about the selected one. The desktop computer shows me 6 tabs, the laptop only 5, it is missing tab Versions.
Also the desktop computer gives me one package when looking for Clementine, the laptop gives me two answer: Clementine and libc6-xen (i386)
        What is happening here?

On the computer with clementine 0.7.3, give it this:

          Code:
          sudo apt-cache policy clementine
and I think you will see the answer.

Re: 2 Computers, same Kubuntu11.10, different program versions

            I got this:

            sudo apt-cache policy clementine
            [sudo] password for DeMus:
            clementine:
            Installed: 0.7.3-508-gfa2a4bf~oneiric
            Candidate: 0.7.3-508-gfa2a4bf~oneiric
            Version table:
            *** 0.7.3-508-gfa2a4bf~oneiric 0
            100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
            0.7.1-0ubuntu3 0
            500 http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/universe amd64 Packages

What does tell you? I also did it on the laptop and got something else as could be expected. See next post.

Re: 2 Computers, same Kubuntu11.10, different program versions

that tells me you installed clementine-0.7.3-508-gfa2a4bf~oneiric from David Sansomes PPA and not the standard 11.10 repo.

so at one time you had the PPA in your source list or downloaded it from the PPA and installed it .

Hi Vinny, thank you for your answer. In both my posts it says the same repo, doesn't it? And it's not the one you mentioned.
What made you think I installed it form another repo? I started using Kubuntu a couple of days ago and can't remember I have been fooling around with repos. Am I loosing it? I just have the standard ones which are setup during install.
But if you, as a veteran say so, then I just believe you. Still think it is very strange.

Well, thank you for your answers.

                    This part

says you have a package that came from here.

But this part, which is the same on both your computers:
                    0.7.1-0ubuntu3 0
                    500 http://nl.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ oneiric/universe amd64 Packages
says that the only clementine package available via the dpkg (apt-get) package manager is in the oneiric repository. So as vinny says, either the David Sansome PPA was previously enabled, and then disabled later, or else the package was downloaded as a .deb package.

On the one with clementine 0.7.3, go into Software Sources (open Muon, go to Settings > Configure Software Sources), enter password, and open the Other Software tab. What repos do you see there in the list? (maybe give a screenshot of it)
