    [SOLVED] Keyboard shortcuts not working

    Hello.

I have created a shortcut for opening E-mail client (Thunderbird) using 'Mail' hot-key, using 'Standard shortcuts' preference window. The hot-key is detected and the shortcut is configured, but pressing the hot-key does nothing. The same for other keyboard combinations.

Conversely, audio volume hot-keys are working, even the corresponding association in 'Global shortcuts' for Amarok is empty, while shortcuts for 'stop/pause/next...' are attached to the corresponding hot-keys but these are not working.

    This is a fresh installation.

    Thanks!

    PS. Reported in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...ta/+bug/898604 .

In System Settings, open Shortcuts and Gestures, click in "Start the input Actions daemon on login". Re-login if necessary.

It's already checked by default . (Custom shortcuts ->Preferences).

Try another way to create a shortcut. Right click the K menu, then Edit Applications. Find Thunderbird, then click in the Advanced tab. make your shortcut, then click in the save icon. Now see if it works.

Yes, that does the trick. What is really happening is that a custom shortcut is being created in KMenuEdit group.

But I don't know what exactly means 'Mail...' action in 'Standard shortcuts'.

Global shortcuts for Amarok are correctly defaulted ('Previou/Next track', 'Stop/Pause/Play'), but the corresponding keyboard combinations are not recognized as such, and instead as 'Meta+F5'... so I have defined these shortcuts one by one.

Volume shortcuts are correctly recognized in the defaults in global shortcuts for Kmix.

          Thank you!
