So I decided to add entries into the launcher for a couple of games that weren't installed via the package manager (namely Neverwinter Nights and Darwinia). First thing I did after right clicking the KDE menu button and choosing 'Edit Applications' was to go into the help menu and read the KDE Menu Editor Handbook. I followed the instructions to the letter... however, when I was done, there were no new entries present in my KDE menu.
So, I went back into the editor, and to my surprise, the entries I'd added had vanished. A bit of exploration of the menus & options of the editor led me to a setting called 'Show Hidden Entries', so I ticked the box for that, and then had another look, and sure enough my entries were now visible in the editor.
Since enabling the showing of hidden entries, a new tick-box option appears for each application, called 'Hidden Entry', but for both the entries I had created, this box was not ticked. However, the editor (and the KDE menu) behave as though the box is ticked.
No matter what I've tried, I cannot get the entries I've added to actually appear in my KDE menu, or to appear in the editor if the 'Show Hidden Entries' box is not ticked. Anybody got any ideas? Could it be a bug?
