Installed applications vanish

I've had it twice that, after performing what I thought were minor updates, jDownloader and BlueJ have apparently vanished from my hard drive / menu. I can't start them via terminal or find them in the start menu. I had installed both apps via .deb files that I had downloaded. They worked fine for a while then they disappeared. I've managed to install jDownloader via Muon which restored JD and all settings. No idea how to do it for BlueJ and no idea why things keep disappearing.

Any ideas?

when you install a .deb from an outside sorce it can sometimes get removed in a normal update/upgrade if some of it's dependencies get changed in the update.

this should not happen with the one you installed with muon now; but for bluej you may half to re-download and install again .
you may be abell to pin it so it dosent get removed again.
