    Missing flash player in Akregator

On Kubuntu 11.10 I have a problem with Akregator.
Each time when I open page in Akregator tab an this page have flash player object I get a message about missing Shockwave Flash plugin.

I have flashplugin-downloader installed and haven't any problem with Firefox and Reconq flashes.

How to resolve this problem with Akregator?

    Hi
I'm sorry that you are having problems with Akregator.

Could you please, very specifically, give the name of the feed or a link to it so that others and I, I'm not too bright ya gotta remember, could try the link?

    thanks

Re: Missing flash player in Akregator

      HI
      Please see my post above.

I may have found a similar situation to that of yours.

I went to this feed under Ubuntu Fridge for "12.04 Ubuntu Developer Summit Proceedings.

      http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/ubunt...3/xZaxkG3xKx0/

And was directed to this site at YouTube:

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bOwyGYTMv8

It won't play and says that I need to upgrade to Flashplayer 10.

Well, I can play the video IN firefox:

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0bOwyGYTMv8

So, I checked in the preferences for Akregator and found that the default browser was Konqueror, which, of course, has problems with flash.

It also has a button "to use the default browser" but there is another button that says to use another so when it is ticked it presents this in the box.

      firefox %u

I saved but didn't close. However, it didn't work, So I'll close and see what happens, it maybe that there is something that is going on "in" Akregator or it may be the firefox command. I'll check back in in a few.

Re: Missing flash player in Akregator

        Hi
Please see my TWO posts above.

        I changed:

        firefox %u

        to:

        firefox

That did not help, I then closed and reopened and still no joy.

        So this may be:

        a) a way that Akregator handles the browser
        b) a "bug".
        c) both

don't know, so all I can say is that possibly someone smarter than me in this Linuxy stuff will come along and solve the situation or possibly scout around to see if it is a known bug.

        sorry i couldn't help more.

Re: Missing flash player in Akregator

            Hi vinny

well, that is worth something right there.

My install is brand new of Oneric Kubuntu with all the updates. I can see the video in Firefox, and also installed Chromium to check it and it works there.

I changed the default browser to chromium and to firefox(without the ch%) and still it says that I need to upgrade to Flash10.

I have gnash and gnash plugin for FF, and also the standard flash stuff from the repos., maybe we should compare just exactly what is in the repos that we have both installed in terms of flash and gnash and maybe that would be a clue.

            My Akregator is 4.7.2.

I searched using "Akregator flash handle crash" and got a lot of bug reports, but none directly with this but one that said that Akregator was displaying flash even when not wanted!

lol mine is 4.7.2 which is the LATEST version on Oneric as far as I can tell, so that may be what the problem is, but the pregnant question now is...

how come you have 4.7.3? lol

                    Hi vinny

Yeah about five minutes after I posted I remembered to look at the PPAs so I now have 4.7.3. However I had forgotten all about flash-aid so i did that, and tried both sources from Adobe-beta and from repos and still no joy.

So..... now I get to play with 4.7.3 lol

And BTW it is still odd that you and I apparently have the same system but yours works and mine does not. hmmmm

no joy for Kryol unless someone else comes up with something.

                      Guys, here's a thought...

Open System Settings | File Associations. Enter flash in the search box. Select the Embedding tab. Compare your results. What do you see?

                          VINNY
                          I'm trying to repeat.
I get a message about upgrading Flash to version 10. I click on Adobe link (http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer/). I see downloads for Adobe Flash 11 only.
But I have 11.1r102 installed for Firefox and it works fine on Rekonq but not in Akregator tabs.
I choose "Flash Player 11 for Ubuntu (apt)" but nothing happens.

                          I see a following in .xsession-errors:
                          Code:
                          akregator(5631)/khtml (part) KHTMLPart::slotRedirect: KHTMLPart::scheduleRedirection: Redirection from KUrl("http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/completion/?installer=Flash_Player_11_for_Ubuntu_(apt)") to KUrl("apt:adobe-flashplugin?channel=$distro-partner") REJECTED!
Also I installed konqueror-nsplugins but it doesn't help with Akregator.

Maybe there is Flash version incompatibility.

Previously I used Akregator with FreeBSD/KDE/nspluginwrapper successfully. But I didn't test Flash 11 in this environment.

There is an add button and the options in it are two boxes the first is "Group" and the available options are:
