Muon update problem [solved]

    Muon update problem [solved]

    I am having trouble with accessing the Qapt PPA repository. I'm getting the following in the detail of the "Unable to download the following packages:

    Failed to download http://ppa.launchpad.net oneiric/main Sources
    404 Not Found

    Failed to download http://ppa.launchpad.net oneiric/main amd64 Packages
    404 Not Found

    Failed to download http://ppa.launchpad.net oneiric/main i386 Packages
    404 Not Found

    Failed to download http://extras.ubuntu.com oneiric InRelease


    Failed to download http://extras.ubuntu.com oneiric Release.gpg
    Unable to connect to extras.ubuntu.com:http:

    Maybe JontheEchidna, or anybody, could chime in here to figure out what's going on.

    That looks like a networking problem. In a terminal, try these:

    Code:
    sudo ping [url]www.google.com[/url]
    Code:
    sudo apt-get update

    What do you see?

      The networking works. I can get the updates from the other repos enabled (Kubuntu Updates PPA plus all official repositories), but the Qapt repository is the only one from which I can't get anything. I remove it and readded it with a deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/echidnaman/qapt/ubuntu oneiric main in the prompt in Software Sources, but it's a no go. BTW the ping works too

        Well, a stop over to the PPA (http://ppa.launchpad.net/echidnaman/qapt/ubuntu/dists/) finds the PPA doesn't (yet) have a content directory for oneiric. That accounts for the 404 Not Found error.

        As Muon is main line beginning with Oneiric, you don't need the ppa repository anymore.
        Windows no longer obstructs my view.

          How does one get the 1.2.2 update for Muon then?

            1.2.2 is, I believe, still only available as source packages 'at this time'. Jonathan's Blog reports:
            Muon Suite 1.2.2 released
            October 25, 2011

            I am glad to announce the first bugfix release for Muon Suite 1.2. The Muon Suite is a set of package management utilities for Debian-based Linux distributions built on KDE technologies.

            This is the second monthly bugfix release for the 1.2 series, and brings several fixes for Multi-Arch packages on 64-bit systems with Kubuntu 11.10, as well as fixes for a few other bugs with package searching, the history view, and the QApt .deb Installer.

            Packages for Kubuntu 11.04 will be available soon from the QApt repository. I will try to get 1.2.2 pushed as an official update for Kubuntu 11.10 over the next week or so using the Ubuntu Stable Release Update process. Since this has a more rigorous testing process than my unofficial PPA, regression testing from users will be required. Stay tuned for more info about that if you’d like to help!

            Further technical information about the release, including source tarball downloads and a detailed changelog, can be found at the project pages here and here.

            I will be releasing the first pre-release of the Muon Suite 1.3 next weekend, so stay tuned for that too.
