"Explosion" effect of Desktop Effect does not work

I'm customizing my effects, all are fine except for 'explosion', when I activate it, a messege appears:
The following desktop effects could not be activated:
    Explosion

any idea how to solve it...?

It is possible that your GPU won't support the effect, although here, on my HP Laptop with its Intel GPU, the effect works. Maybe you don't have the needed DRI packages installed?

this is what 'lspci' shows me:
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Manhattan [Mobility Radeon HD 5400 Series]

and what DRI packages do i need for that?

You need proprietary drivers to support the full use of the GPU. Are you running the Open-Source or the proprietary drivers?

I did switch to proprietary using "additional drivers" previously... is that what you are looking for?
