cannot use any printer on oneiric

I just installed kubuntu oneiric and I cannot activate my printers, that are running fine on lucid.
I tried it via system settings, printers. Everything worked fine on all ealier kubuntus since five years. But thouhgh Oneiric delivers fine test printings the printers are not available in any application, e.g. libreOffice, kate.

Maybe the following hint is useful: the apply button at the end of the configuration dialogue is grayed.

You have cups installed?
What is shown when you try to configure cups via your browser?

sorry, forget my posting, misinterprted a libreOffice Symbol.
At least one of my 2 printers is working fine now the other one will work too, think.
thank you for the hint, how to display cups, it is installed and working fine.
