This is probable a Ubuntu problem. But m upgrade to 11.10 (32b) always stalls. The update goes quite a long ways then stops at

Loading new dahdi-2.4.1+dfsg-1ubuntu2 DKMS files...

Building initial module for 2.6.38-11-generic-pae
(I am Still waiting after half an hour)
Unless it takes more then half an hour. I look at top and there is nothing running (or at least nothing taking any resources). Any ides on how to get around this issue.
