    Pure Ubuntu -> Pure KDE?

Is there a way to go from an ubuntu-based installation (with the plasma workspace environment installed) to pure kubuntu?
It's slightly annoying to see the ubuntu logo and red background when you first log in.

    Notes:
    - I can't install pure kubuntu from start. Dont ask me why, that link is all I know.
    - I tried installing Ubuntu then installing the plasma workspace and then removing ubuntu package, and that destroys the entire installation (gives me a weird graphics glitch right after ubuntu loads).

        Oops. Didn't see the link.

Did you install all of kubuntu-desktop?

*sigh* the problem has solved itself...
Just to answer you; yes I installed all of kubuntu-desktop :P and the desktop and all of its features worked fine, just that the login screen was gnome (and I wanted it to be kde).
This is like my 10th installation of kubuntu (I've had a lot of problems :/ dunno why) and it's always used the gnome login screen, but this time it uses the kubuntu login screen! I dunno what I did different, but it's as I want it to be and I dont wanna mess with that :P

Consider this solved, although it doesn't really have a solution.
          Thanks for your help!

Ah so you needed to basically swap gdm for kdm which is done by something along the lines of:

            sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm on (k)ubuntu < 11.10

            or

            sudo dpkg-reconfigure lightdm on (k)ubuntu 11.10

and selecting the desired login manager from there.

I'm like, a bit scared if that's gonna work or not :/
As I said, removing the ubuntu package completely wrecked my entire installation, I have to make sure that wont happen if I use those lines you mentioned silviucc.

"the lines" @silviucc gave dont remove anything it just lets you select which login manager you will use if you have more than 1 installed !!
if you installed Ubuntu you would have had as default "gdm" then installing the kubuntu-desktop would give you "kdm" as well but still leave you with gdm runing the login.

                  so I would do the
                  sudo dpkg-reconfigure kdm
                  and set it as default.
