Does anyone know when will KDE 4.7.3 be officially available for Kubuntu 11.10? Or perhaps it is already and I'm, as a newbie to Kubuntu, don't know how to up-grade my DE?

Re: KDE 4.7.3 - when available for 11.10?
Open konsole.
Code:sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Code:exit
Now open konsole again, and check "Help > About KDE". What version does it say?

About new KDE versions
Earlier topic: http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/inde...opic=3119191.0
Summary:
KDE 4.7.3
Oneiric
The plan:
-
- test
- Copy to updates ppa when released
- test more
- SRU
The Kubuntu is releasing the KDE updates from the PPA repositories ( http://www.kubuntu.org/news/kde-sc-473 ). The KDE update could move to the Ubuntu updates when it has been tested by the PPA users and it has been approved (SRU).
My thoughts - I could be wrong : The KDE 4.7.4 ( http://techbase.kde.org/Schedules/KD...lease_Schedule ) is comming out soon: "Tuesday, December 6, 2011: KDE 4.7.4". I don't think that the KDE 4.7.3 will move to the Ubuntu updates.

Re: KDE 4.7.3 - when available for 11.10?
4.7.2 is the latest version that is available from the main (official) repos for 11.10. 4.7.3 can be installed from kubuntu ppa (http://www.kubuntu.org/news/kde-sc-473). It might eventually end up in the main repos as well, but I have no ETA on that.
Help > About KDE wasn't meant to be run as a command, but to choose Help and About KDE from konsole's menu (of course you can also do that in dolphin, like you did).
EDIT: looks like OneLine was quicker.

Originally posted by Caesar"Access denied", even when I precede the command with sudo. But I checked in Dolphin and it says I have version 4.7.2, so I guess the newest version isn't available yet. Why did I have to up-date my system in console? I thought Kubuntu does that by itself, using Muon i.e."The only way Kubuntu could be more user friendly would be if it came with a virtual copy of Snowhog and dibl"
