Forcing to font sizes < 96 DPI ?

Hi Group,

I'm using an app that displays font sizes very large, specifically dejaVu font. In the fonts control panel, forcing fonts to 96 DPI makes it better, but still not small enough. I would like to go down to 80 or 72 DPI.

18 months ago there was a thread on "FORCE FONTS WITHOUT USING KDE GRAPHICAL INTERFACE" which suggests editing the "kdmrc" file. I found kdmrc, but it doesn't appear to contain anything about setting font sizes.

This problem is probably made worse by my laptop which has an odd display resolution.

Please does anyone know where to manually change the force font setting in 11.10, if possible?

But System Settings > Application Appearance > Fonts does not affect the app I really want to run. The only thing that does improve it is using the force fonts option. My font size control in other places is working fine, and the "kdeglobals" file looks normal.

The app is QtRadio, which is currently distributed as a PPA:

The developers are using the standard Ubuntu, but historically I installed Kubuntu. The font in kubuntu renders much bigger, which is the real problem.

It is not a killer as it just makes reading the frequency value difficult. Still it would be nice to have more control over the font size.

Make an .Xdefaults file and put in Xft.dpi: whatever value

.Xdefaults goes into my home directory, is that correct..?
