    Kubunto 11.10 on Asus Zenbook

    Well -- two things!!
    1) Feels good to come back to kubuntu/ubuntu after being gone for a little bit (sorry folks)
    2) Kubuntu installed just great on my Asus Zenbook -- so far. The touch pad is not recognized as a touch pad but as a mouse... but I can live with that for now.

Now the bad .... closing the lid and then opening it causes the screen to blank and is non recoverable... need to fix that issue.

Other than that -- everything seems to be doing well so far.

if anyone has any ideas, let me know!!

    Welcome back.

Have you installed the package kde-config-touchpad?

For the screen... Go to System Settings | Power Management | Power Profiles. For each profile, change When laptop lid closed from Sleep to Turn off screen. Some video card drivers don't sleep properly.

Hmmm ... that trick seems to work for closing the lid.
I will do some more extensive testing on it and let everyone know what happens...

Oh --- on the touch pad: the system recognizes it as a Synaptic touch pad driver. I think that the touch pad is actually something else. Like I said --- I can live with it only functioning as a mouse for now (it is not a major pain).

Other than that --- the computer seems to run well --so far -- on Kubuntu 11.10!

            OK -- discovered one issue....
When the computer is allowed to time out to screen savor after the set time, the screen will stay blank and not come back if you try to move the mouse or hit a key on the key board to come back from the screen savor.

            Any ideas??

Some PCs have the power button as the 'wake up' key. Press and release it (do not hold it) and see if your PC 'wakes up' again.
