Auto software updates stalled at 63%

I clicked on the update icon, all was going well however, it has now stalled at 63% showing "Running post-installation trigger menu. Do I have any options other then shutting down the computer?

Fixed it. I opened the system activity manager and shut down the update process "Muon". Then I opened a terminal and entered the update command, "sudo apt-get update, and sudo apt-get upgrade. Everything installed fine followed by a system notice to reboot. Whew!

Teunis, Okay, thanks I will keep that in mind. I did run "sudo apt-get dist-update" after sudo apt-get upgrade.

us.archive.ubuntu.com is getting hammered lately. I know your stall happened after downloads, but last night I was trying to pull down a boatload of packages and the download would just stop at some point. After numerous re-attemps, I edited /etc/apt/sources.list to change all occurrences of us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu to mirror.anl.gov/pub/ubuntu. Muuuuuuuuuch faster. According to Ubuntu's mirror list, ANL's is the fastest and most up-to-date for the US.

          SteveRiley,

Yes, it did seem like it was no longer receiving anything from the net. I will look to make the change ASAP.

          Thanks for the info.

How does one edit the /etc/apt/sources.list?

            Disregard this question. Found it.
