How to turn off nepomuk ?

How do I turn it off

It generates absolutely humongous files.

I have never used it.

I have read about it and still do not understand what it is supposed to do - all of the descriptions are totally vague with terms that are totally undefined.

So, how do I turn it off

System Settings>Desktop Search and uncheck "enable nepomuk".

I had the same problem on my dell xps studio 13. I chose to disable both nepumuk and akonadi on startup following the directions here:

It's only modifying two config files.
