How to restore hibernate button after deleting and recreating swap?

I have lost the hibernate button in the Leave dialogue of the KDE launcher, since I deleted and recreated swap. How to restore this button?

have you enabled the swap using the swapon command?

Yes, I have activated swap in partitioner, and also added an entry to fstab to automate swapon. I think it's the launcher's/button's fault for not adapting once I reenabled swap.

OK - the problem - I upgraded to 8GB ram, from 4GB. But I did not resize my swapspace to match that capacity, so having used over 4GB of ram and having less than 4GB of swapspace, Kubuntu crashed each time I tried to suspend to disk. Also I had been re-enabling and disabling swap, so I think it needed a complete reboot to become available and you have to make sure your newly resized swap partition is relisted in fstab so it automatically mounts each desktop session.

Edit: this problem is not solved! I thought it was solved on superficial appearances but after all that it does not resume properly! It gives the appearance of suspending to disk but doesn't resume from disk! Please advise.
