Failed update screws up "Configure-KDE Control Module" cannot change WIFI settings

When KDE did the last software update to Kubuntu (GNU Linux 3.0.0-16generic X86-64, KDE 4.8.00, running on a Samsung R780E with 4 GB memory 500 GB HD in a dual boot with Window$ 7), Muon Package Manager froze when it was almost done (97% updates installed). Since it was late, I left it for the next day. When I returned next morning, it was at the same point so I killed it, and continued were I was left.
A couple of days later I noticed that the WIFI was running somewhat slow, so I tried to open Manage Connections. The window opened and brough the following message:

    Cannot load library/usr/lib/kde4/kcm_networkmanagement.so: (/usr/lib/libknmservice.so.4 undefined
    symbol: _ZNK11QMetaObject4castEPK7QObcect)Cannot load library
    /usr/lib/kde4/kcm_networkmanagement.so (/usr/lib/libknmservice.so.4: undefineed symbol
    _ZNK11QMetaObject4cactEPK7QObject)

    Possible resons:

•An error occurred during your last KDE upgrade leaving an orphaned control module
•You have old third party modules lying around.

Check these points carefully and try to remove the module mentioned in the error message. If this
fails, consider contacting your distributor or packager.

There has been no way to change the WIFI connection parameters.

I tried to locate the modules, but so far no luck. Is there anyone that could give me a hand?

    Thanks

Open a terminal and enter: sudo apt-get update When this ends you will see a message as to how to complete the update. Hopefully that will help with the network manager.

      Thanks abear,
sudo apt-get update did not solve the problem, but apt-get dist-upgrade did the trick. I am back on the saddle

      Thanks

        Open a console and type:
        Code:
        man apt-get
and look at the differences between 'upgrade' and 'dist-upgrade'

        I ONLY use dist-upgrade.
