No video, audio or connection with HDMI

I have read on forums that a lot of people are getting sound problems with HDMI. Unfortunately with me it is even worse. I cannot get HDMI working at all. No sound, no video and no connection. I am running on a Dell XPS 15 L502X, with Kubuntu 11.10. I am not experiencing this problem on Windows 7 on the same laptop (I am dual-booting). So the HDMI port is not broken or something.

Does anybody know what I need to check or install?

There no solution there but to wait for 12.04. Does nobody have a great idea?
