[SOLVED]Lost of all sound

I had my audio working perfectly using pulseaudio, yesterday my on-board sound card vanished, pulseaudio only showed the dummy output rather than my analogue stereo output. I thought I must have messed something up in the terminal.
Have doe a clean install of kubuntu today , fully updated everything , installed the pulseaudio volume controls, gone into alsamixer via the terminal, checked everything is unmuted. Now in pulseaudio I have levels of music flashing up , but no sound output, this is so annoying, I am beginning to believe the sound on my motherboard may have failed. Does anyone have and ideas.

Look at output devices tab and change port from speakers to headphones and vice versa. Maybe it will help (it helped me once when automatic switching between ports has failed)

Hi....

I wouldn't assume that yet. The fact that you're seeing the "levels of music flashing up" in pulseaudio could mean it's still a software issue. Do you get sound if you run Kubuntu from the CD, in live mode? Also, please open konsole and type in "lspci -v" without the quotes and post the results. :-)

OK, tried to re-install with a fresh instalation of ubuntu with gnome, not a fan of gnome but it produced the same problems, no sound at all. No sound with the live CD either. Opened the case to check there are no obvious loose connections of isses, everything looks fine. Im sure the onboard sound on the motherboard has failed, its a pretty new board. The fact that i can see the levels flashing up in the pulseaudio volume control would suggest to me(although i am by no means an expert) that the software is working correctly and its the output device that has failed. Anyway enough from me , here is the output of lspci -v. My next move is to pl;ug in an maudio pci sound card i have, i always have a nightmare getting it to work on linux, but it may be an alternative at this stage. Still dont understand why the audio has just vanished.

Have now added my Maudio Delta audiophile 2496 to the machine, its a PCI card, still no sound. Pulseaudio is again showing levels and i have unmuted all channels for this card in the alsamixer via terminal as before. Here is the latest output of ----->sudo lspci -v

I'm not sure I can help -- it looks like we have different versions of KDE and pulseaudio. Mine is KDE 4.7.2 and pulseaudio is 1.1-2. However, I see something odd in your pavucontrol image. The "set as fallback" button is significant -- on my rig it makes the difference on whether Skype audio works, or not. It looks like you have that button pressed on both playback channels. I would not expect that to work. Here's a screenie that I took to help someone get their Skype working, showing that I muted the internal audio channel and used my webcam as the mic, and enabled it by pressing the "set as fallback" button. You might want to try fiddling with that -- try muting the channel that you don't want playing, for example, and then "set as fallback" the one that you should be hearing.

Ok managed to finally fix it, your screenshot led me to the final change that I had to make, which involved changing some of the settings in ALSAMIXER, thanks you so much, and thanks for anyone else who took the time to read this. Ill post a screenshot of the correct settings for the MAUDIO DELTA AUDIOFILE 2496 in alsamixer and maybe someone else will benifit from this. The key thing with the MAUDIO is to set H/W & H/W 1 to DigitalMix................ so glad ive finally fixed this, I can almost see the point in pulseaudio now but ill not get carried away

you may be right , i did have a look around to see if it could be done first , kinda felt like fool asking
