Well, I wanted to take a moment to let everyone know how things turned out. In the midst of some inconsistencies where I would sometimes get absolutely nothing upon booting (no grub, no nothing) or the computer would load the OS and run fine, albeit with some graphic-based issues, I began having some other issues such as overheating. It was then that I realized that maybe I wasn't dealing with just one issue. It's one thing to diagnose and solve a problem when it's the only thing going wrong. But like treating the human body, having more than one condition at the same time only makes things that much more complicated. Are the symptoms and problems caused by problem A or problem B?

I'll spare you the details and simply say that I realized that I was exceeding my comfort zone and knowledge base. I had someone take a look at the hardware and I was just told today that the motherboard is bad. The graphics card was working, was installed properly, not conflicting with anything, etc.. It was just bad timing on the part of the motherboard to go just as I installed the new graphics card.

Anyway, thank you all again for all of your suggestions and guidance. I appreciate the help!!
