Creative SB X-fi Xtreme 11.10

Hello all,

Since November I have installed 11.10 K,U,X,unbuntu with the same results. My soundcard does not work. I would periodically install figuring that with updates things would improve but no luck. In 11.04 it would work fine.

I installed Kubuntu 11.10 in VirtualBox last night and sound worked fine, although it was not showing the Soundblaster card. I do not care what card or onboard sound works as long as it does. Now for a question...

Is the sound working because it is a virtual install of Kubuntu 11.10 in Ubuntu 11.04 where sound works fine or will a real install of Kubuntu 11.10 also work? Have there been fixes so that a Creative Soundblaster X-fi Xtreme works? Or is my onboard sound working which I thought was disabled.

The sound you get in a VM is there because there is actually a working sound system on the host OS. You should report the bug on launchpad, but do a search before that because other people may have this problem too...

Hello,

Thanks for the link but although it says the card is not supported it actually is in 11.04 and works perfectly. It is only in 11.10 that it does not work.

By the way...does anyone have some info as to getting this soundcard working?
