A display problem with one application

I don't know if this is "hardware," or even if it belongs here on Kubuntu's forum. I 've had no response on the application mail list, so maybe nobody else there is using Oneiric.

The problem is with Xlog 2.0.5, a ham-radio logging program. Xlog opens looking just fine, but when the cursor is moved black streaks appear (maybe 3/4" wide) and some data columns normally at the left of its display jump to the right side of the screen. Slowly moving the cursor up the page causes the data to rewrite, briefly appearing properly, but that doesn't hold.

Xlog works fine on the Maverick installation I'm using now, and on Debian Squeeze. (My older systems have to use 2.0.3.)

Any suggestions? Seems like some kind of display issue. I noticed that Maverick offered a 60Hz refresh rate option while Oneiric, IIRC, offered only 50Hz or "automatic." I chose the latter.
