    A PDA for Oneiric?

I have an old Palm Pilot that I wish I could use with Oneiric. A few releases back (Lucid?) I was able to use kpilot to sync the device with korganizer, kaddressbook, etc., but kpilot is apparently not compatible with Oneiric since it's not in Synaptic's software list. jpilot does work, but it doesn't talk to any of the KDE PDA software like korganizer.

The OpenSync project was supposed to produce software that would solve this problem, but that project is apparently defunct.

I'm beginning to think that I may just have to buy a new PDA that does sync with Oneiric. But I most definitely do not want to buy an iPhone or an i-anything. I don't need the telephony and I don't want to pay for it, especially when it involves a maintenance contract. Plus, the fact that Apple is so resolutely opposed to the concept of open-source software makes me reluctant to buy any of their devices.

Is there a PDA that will fit the bill?

Any of your Android tabs should work. Might need to install an "App for that", but I'm sure there are some out there...

Go to Hastings online and they have several that are really inexpensive. In fact, I plan to pick one up for myself soon

Here is a link to get you started:

    Hope this helps!

      @pwabrahams --

I feel the pain. I have an old, but perfect Palm Zire31. It syncs just fine with jpilot (under Lucid). I use Thunderbird with Lightning as my PIM. It's a bit of a goat-rope to interface from jpilot to T-Bird, but it can be done by exporting an iCal file from jpilot. T-Bird will "import" (meaning it just uses) an iCal that has a unique name, but at least with the version I use, it doesn't check for updates. So the first time I tried I got all kinds of dupes. You basically need to delete the old iCal and then tell T-Bird to make use of the new one.

The KDE PIM does not, as you've observed, have any sync conduits for Palm, since kpilot went away some time ago. However, you may want to investigate whether the KDE PIM will use iCal files.

Android tabs in which application program? Or, if that question doesn't make sense, where are the Android tabs you're talking about?

Not sure, haven't got mine for Christmas yet :-D, however, I just some quick Googeling and it doesn't look too hard to do for someone who uses Linux :-D.

          WebDAV client for Android:

          http://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/p...oc2011/mtgap/1

          OwnCloud:
          http://owncloud.org/

          Easy, Peasy!!!

Also, you can use standard mass storage or MTP data transfer from what I am reading; there are also some ssh clients and servers for Android and you can just fish to your device if need be. Again, I will have to wait till I get mine to test with, but I'm not worried; Linux folks are pretty creative .

          Hope this helps!

So it does... It was taken a few weeks ago and I'm sure that their stock and items change from week to week...

                Try this one!

                http://www.gohastings.com/browse/ELE...m_nooverride=1

Alternately, you can go to http://www.gohastings.com/ and select electronics --> portable electronics and there will be some listed there.

Also, this is just one store, there is a whole online world out there with other stores as well. Hastings is a local store here in Albuquerque, so we buy online and go pick it up in the store.

                Good luck
