    Lost the sound

    I have Kubuntu 11.10 and I had sound working very well, but after last update and upgrade, I have lost the sound. I tried the live CD and the sound works there. How can I get the sound back?

    Mine is a laptop Acer Aspire 4741G. Kernel is 3.0.0-12-generic and the system is 64bit.

    check be sure its not muted. check to be sure the is turned up. usually one of those two.. you might also have to remove you pulse audio settings (i think just ~/.pulse)

      No, its not muted. Do I have to purge pulse audio? Do I have to install for example alsa?
      In both digital and analog no sound comes from testing.

        Did you open up the mixer and check the mute status of all devices?
