Question about latest update for xserver-common and xorg-xorg-core

I have 64 bit Kubuntu 11.10 on HP Pavilion DV6.

I have ATI Propriatory drivers from repositories (before release) installed.

I recently saw that an update on xserver-common and xorg-xorg-core are available in apper. These are apparently showing some bugs fixes (god knows what is that). Going by the extreme uncertainity in working of the FGLRX drivers and the difficulty in their troubleshooting, I am afraid of applying the updates available in the repositories. I dont know whether these updates are any way related to display drivers and whether my display working under propriatory driver will have any problems after updation.

Can any one guide whether I shall apply these updates or not.

On a second thought, How essential is it to apply these updates?

    Thanks
