how to send fax from LibreOffice?

hello,

HP LaserJet 3030 printer and fax drivers have been installed. HP Device Manager says everything's fine.

when i open a document in LibreOffice and try to print through the fax the print dialog disappears without asking for a fax number. then nothing happens. what's missing?

looks like roots of the problem are here:

$ fax make test.txt
test.txt is text...
Segmentation fault
$ fax make 1.ods 
1.ods is text...
efix: Wed Jan 11 15:32:04 2012 Error: can't get format of 1.ods
