    Akonadi/Kontact

For the fourth straight upgrade/re-install (that's18 months worth) Akonadi/Kontact application has failed. It took three hours of searching and fiddling to get it to even start. Now when I get it to start it won't find my old mail, or my old contacts, or my old calendar. Also, every time I quit it then I restart I get un-expected end error messages and have to start it twice (see below for details). I've been into Akonadi and thought I had pointed it at the correct files in my old .kde/share/apps/kmail/mail and kabc directories.

Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

By the way - my opinion of Akonadi/Kontact, after 18 months of problems, is that it should be pulled out by the roots. Why did they have to mess up one of the best e-mail systems I've ever seen?

      Re: Akonadi/Kontact

I managed, after much fighting, to get my e-mail folders back. However, I can't get contacts to work or find a calendar anywhere, including my full backup. I still think Akonadi was a really bad idea that was released way too early. At least Kontact doesn't error out every time I use it now.

I read it and did it. It appears kmail to have imported something but I could not tell what it was. The message I receive from kmail is this:
KMail encountered a fatal error and will terminate now. The error was: Failed to fetch the resource collection.

Is there any further solution for that?
