On two machines this last round of updates really has done a number on them. 1st machine won't boot at all as it gets to "Check Battery State" and gets stuck. Says OK but apparently not. My system Plymouth does not work at all on boot. Looks nice when shutting down. KWIN and PHONON are a mess. On some applications with Compositing on the screen flickers like crazy. Sound on some games just cuts out completely. Don't know what happened but WOW what a mess!!!

Re: After the last update host of issues
Wow. I noticed some of the items you mention listed in the 137 updates which I haven't gotten around to installing yet. Maybe I'll wait a few days and see what's going on before I do.Kubuntu 20.04
HP Pavilion 17, 8GB DDR3, A10 APU w/ ATI Radeon HD 8650G

Re: After the last update host of issues
Nope, those updates had nothing to do with the systems that are giving me issues. Tried anyway but no go. Also noticed a Plasmoid I self compiled not longer works. Tried recompiling and still does not work. Disappointing on that as I love "I Hate The Cashew" plasmoid. I wish they'd give a choice on that little thing. I know they changed the looks of it, but still distracting.

Re: After the last update host of issues
OK. The one system with the stalled boot process under the new kernel I got fixed. Had to force re-install that kernel as not all parts of it was being allowed to upgraded. That is fixed and that system boots great (Plymouth and all) and runs great now. No KWIN issues there either. My system however is still having issues. Can't get Plymouth on boot to cooperate. As far as the KWIN issues I noticed that the system uninstalled my NVIDIA drivers. Why? I don't know. Didn't even see where it said it would. Reinstalling now and we'll see what that does for the KWIN issues.

Re: After the last update host of issues
The update before last, for some reason my system decided it was necessary to install 80 32-bit libraries on my 64-bit system. Last update it decided those 32-bit libraries were unnecessary and removed them... and the rest of my kubuntu environment, and xwindows. So I had to spend some time putting everything back together last night.

Re: After the last update host of issues
Well for the most part everything is back as it was. Amazing how the system does not work without that NVIDIA driver. Why the one system refused to update the kernel completely is beyond me as on my system it did. So it comes down to those two things for each system respectively. Still have that issue on the one game, but it was a download from about 1.5 years ago and I haven't bothered installing the Repo version. Maybe I give it a try and then I can say 100% instead of 98%.
I still say after reviewing that update it never told me it was removing the NVIDIA driver but oh well, there you go.
