    Low Fat Kubuntu anyone?

Just upgraded to the 11.10 beta yesterday. So far so good.

    Today I read this

    http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2011/09/k...lder-hardware/

Looks interesting - has anyone else tried it yet?

I saw that on omgbuntu as well, and yes I did try it an an very old vaio which had zenwalk installed on it and it does work but with no effects and not quite as fast as I hoped, at least it does look like kde4 but doesn't really act like it, oh yeah the vaio has a celeron (coppermine) cpu, socket 370, running at 800Mhz, 256Mb of ram and a 20Gb hdd, my 4Gb eee's faster!, but it does work so I'm probably going to play with it for a bit.
Give it a go great fun.

forgot to mention that "activities" and "widgets" didn't work for me either, but it's probably just the age of the pc as I think they're supposed to.

I already blogged before them, gosh darnit
plus look here for some discussion in KFN

You may have to either reboot for the settings to be realized (unless you have some settings customized already)
or try out a clean new user account to see what it looks like in all its glory.

it also would have been nice to at least reference me since they lifted my description almost verbatim

No, ignore that last, they lifted it from the wiki page announcing Kubuntu 11.10, beta2 and I wrote the blurb there about kubuntu-low-fat-settings myself lol!

so I plagiarized myself on my blog 8) 8)
