Synaptic and missing Deja Vu fonts

I installed the Kubuntu 11.10 beta onto VirtualBox 4.1.2 and it looks great.

I also installed Synaptic (my favorite package manager), but it wouldn't run from a terminal as root (logging on using "sux" to give root X permissions) because the Deja Vu fonts it wanted were missing. IIRC I had to install the "ttf-dejavu" package before it would work.

This probably isn't a situation many are going to run into, but it was a little odd.

Anyway, the Muon package manager is looking good.

Edited to add: The first time I tried Muon, it froze mid-installation, and I had to go to the command line (with "dpkg --configure -a") to fix things. A dist-upgrade or two later and it seems to be working fine now.
