My Oneiric system is upgraded from natty. Natty uses PGSQL-8.4, and Oneiric has installed two upgrades -- 9.0 and 9.1. It appears that the databases themselves have not been moved from 8.4 to 9.1.
Documentation is here:
http://www.postgresql.org/docs/9.1/s...pgupgrade.html
apparently pg_upgrade is pg_upgradecluster in kubuntu.
The question is this: will it be necessary to run pg_upgradecluster, or is it k/ubuntu's plan to provide a package that runs it automatically when Oneiric goes live? Should I run pg_upgradecluster, or wait for k/ubuntu to do it at some future time?
I realize that various version of pgsql can coexist, but there's not much point in keeping the older versions around, unless you have some really strange database that can't be upgraded (or applications that won't migrate).
