    ALSA not working

    Just did an update today and now I have no alsa sound anymore.

    I had the same problem for about 5 minutes with Smplayer. I checked that sound was working by checking speaker placement in multimedia in system settings. Then I selected PULSE in Smplayer's audio settings.

      For a moment I thought I had the same problem, as the multimedia test appeared to fail. But a quick check of kmix revealed the audio volume set all the way down. It is fine, here -- 64-bit on a VM.

        thanks for suggestions. Switched to Pulse in Umplayer but problem still persists. The same actually happened with my ubuntu oneiric after the last couple of updates so guess this is something that is being worked on. But this is the fun of testing pre-releases - something is bound to break.
