    Annoying nepomuk popup

Around 10 minutes after I login, EVERY login, I get about 4 or 5 sudden popups telling me nepomuk indexing is disabled:
    Code:
Nepomuk Indexing Agents Have Been Disabled
The Nepomuk service is not available or fully operational and attempts to rectify this have failed. Therefore indexing of all data stored in the Akonadi PIM service has been disabled, whic…

    The following problems were detected:
    Nepomuk is not running.
I have manually disabled it in system settings and also disabled it from startup services.
I am also not using any of the KDE PIM applications.

    Hey shaney,

I had exactly the same problem, at about eight to ten minutes after logging in I'd get nepomuk telling me that indexing had been disabled to preserve system resources, and the system monitor would show the cpu being thrashed at about 95%, and the memory usage at about 30%-35%, over the last weekend I had to disable nepomuk and strigi, and also remove them from start up I've had no trouble at all since then, this problem started after the KDE 4.7 update of a week ago, I've also lost the wifi icon from my panel, all it shows now is the ethernet socket icon and it tells me that "wireless is disabled by hardware", it's not it's working fine but that little icon is really bugging me.

Also can anyone point me at a nice little file and folder search app to replace nepomuk as I really miss searching, and I've tried gnome do and it doesn't, cheers all!

oooops! I just realised I've posted this in the oneiric ocelot thread and I'm running natty

The popup notifications are caused by the nepomukfeeder akonadi agents that try to do their stuff even when you have disabled nepomuk (you get the notifications because the feeders fail because of it).

There is a way to remove and disable the feeder agents, but it is a bit hackish so you should consider how important it is for you to get rid of the popups.

If you wish to disable the feeders, it's a two step process including removing the existing agents and disabling them from recreating themselves once removed.

You can find detailed instructions here:
      http://osdir.com/ml/kdepim-bugs/2011-06/msg00752.html

      A few additional notes:
      1. I assume you know what you're doing (since you're running the devel version), if you don't feel comfortable performing the steps...don't
      2. You may need to install "akonadiconsole" (it probably isn't installed by default).
      3. You'll probably need to redo your edits when kdepim-runtime package is upgraded.

        Thanks Kubicle

I tried kfind before installing gnome do, but without any luck, even when I set it searching for a file I knew was in the folder I had it search in, I'm probably missing something simple
