Just noticed that Kmail appears to be downloading my messages as they are no longer visible in my in box on Yahoo. However they also aren't any where to be found on my PC. I changed Kmail to leave the messages on the server and was able to recover the missing messages on Yahoo.
Looking through various forums the common solution appeared to be reindexing the message store. I tried both right clicking on the mailbox and going to maintenance and selecting reindexing. I also deleted all of the idx files in the mail folder.
The only result is now all my messages are marked as unread yet the oldest message in my inbox is July of this year. When I tell kmail to check mail, it downloads a bunch of blank messages. No subject and no content. All of the files are about 180 bytes.
Here's what the new message contents look like:

Any suggestions so I can get this working again?

OS is 2.6.38-12
Kontact is 4.4.10
