Skype works for me when it comes to hearing things, but the microphone does not work. Choosing Systems Settings/Multimedia/phonon/Audio Capture/Communication a number of options are listed, a default analog stereo and a number of other options begining with HDA. Below the window is a Test button. When I select each of the options I would expect the Test Button to become enabled at least with one of the choices, but it does not (doing a similar exercise with Output works as I expect).
It is as if the System cannot see that the microphone is there at all.
