kde 4.7.1 ... where is it?

Hi. kubuntu normally gets KDE releases really fast.
    I can't find 4.7.1 ... am I missing something?
    Using 11.04 4.7.0

I think you might need to wait a day or two before the relevant packages appear in the Backports PPA.

Oneiric users/testers started receiving KDE 4.71 packages last night but there's along way to go before the KDE upgrade is complete.

It has been already a week since KDE 4.7.1 was released. Anybody knows when or whether we will see the updates on Natty?

Re: kde 4.7.1 ... where is it?

Given how close we are to the release of 11.10 I suspect the devs are focused on that and question whether we will get it on 11.04 at all.

Having said that I'll probably be proved wrong tomorrow

As far as I know, there is one person who is able to do 4,7,1 for natty, and he may be away atm. Also, it is correct that the devs are working more on Oneiric right now. i don't see any reason why 4.7.1 can't eventually make it to Natty.

Also, having Jonanthan Riddell away this cycle has reduced the manpower imo.

The delay might be because 4.7.1 kde-runtime packages still fail to build on oneiric, and getting 4.7.1 on oneiric is probably the "first order of business".

Ok, that makes sense! Thanks everyone for their answers!

I have oneiric on my 32B desktop and KDE 4.7.1 files were installed on the 8th September. So I am not sure what the reason for the delay is since it is now 14th Sept. Perhaps all hands are to the pump to get oneiric released. I must say that I am very impressed with it at the moment considering it is a beta release .

                  And your kde-runtime packages (kde-runtime, kde-runtime-data, khelpcenter4 etc.) are 4.7.1?

                  I'd be surprised

I don't know about NoWorries but from my fully updated Oneiric installation:

                    Code:
                    Package: kde-runtime
                    State: installed
                    Automatically installed: no
                    Version: 4:4.7.0a-0ubuntu2
So I guess Natty users will have to wait a while longer.

I am not sure that we have the same repositories. Mine are shown in the attached graphic. In the list you will find http://ppa.launchpad.net/matthaeus12...imp-svn/ubuntu which is for getting Gimp 2.7.3. I needed it for the extra features it provides with layers. I will be interested to know if these repositories are different to what you PaulW2U and kubicle are using.

                        use 'apt-cache policy kde-runtime'
or simply look at the version found in your package manager

When I ran this command I got:
                          :~$ apt-cache policy kde-runtime
                          kde-runtime:
                          Installed: 4:4.7.0a-0ubuntu2
                          Candidate: 4:4.7.0a-0ubuntu2
                          Version table:
                          *** 4:4.7.0a-0ubuntu2 0
                          500 http://mirror.optus.net/ubuntu/ oneiric/main i386 Packages
                          100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
                          :~$
However when I use Kinfocentre I get what is shown in the attached graphic. When I look in /var/cache/apt/archives, I find many deb files (about 62) with 4.7.1 such as

                          kdebase-bin_4%3a4.7.1-0ubuntu1_all.deb
                          kdelibs-bin_4%3a4.7.1-0ubuntu1_i386.deb

I am therefore wondering why there is this inconsistency between the output of "apt-cache policy kde-runtime" and the other results that I have listed here.

Most of kde is 4.7.1 in Oneiric repos, it's just one source package (split into half a dozen binary packages) that currently fails to build:
                            https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kde-runtime
                            https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/oneiric...untime/+builds

Thanks for the clarification. I was surprised that I had a smorgasbord of KDE 4.7.0 and 4.7.1 packages on 11.10. Like others I will look forward to the completion of the KDE4.7.1 packages. No doubt 10.04 users will rejoice as well when 4.7.1 comes along.
