    KDE 4.7 GTK app style

After upgrading to KDE 4.7, I noticed that GTK apps were still using the old gtk2-engines-oxygen style (1.0.3) instead of the new version (1.1.1) that is supposed to go along with the KDE 4.7 theme changes. If you want the updated theme, it can be installed from Maik Schäfer's testing PPA (https://launchpad.net/~msb/+archive/testing). This version of the theme fixes the problem of GTK apps not having shadows under the menus.

It's probably safer to just install the individual package rather than adding his PPA. You can download the individual packages from here: https://launchpad.net/~msb/+archive/...-archive-extra

While I must give the usual disclaimer (USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!), I have been using the updated theme for a few days now, and have not noticed any issues.

Are you using his ppa, or the package? Because I'd be willing to give the ppa a try, see how it goes

I just downloaded the single gtk2-engines-oxygen package for my system.

I didn't realise it was at a lower version, just that the shadows were suddenly missing but assumed it was to do with the lack of kwin shadows after the update.
Installing the package the OP suggested has solved the shadow issue and appears to be working fine here too.
