    WLAN interface changes system name.

I have noticed on a couple of occasions now that the WLAN Interface in the Network Manager has changed its System Name from 'eth0' to 'eth1' and back again.

This makes running scripts difficult as I have to keep editing them when this happens.

Has anyone else noticed this or is just me?

I'm pretty sure I've only got the one installed, it's a Dell laptop that hasn't been altered since I bought it, with the exception of getting rid of vista

I did have a few other problems with the network manager, mainly it wouldn't connect but that seems to be OK now.

I've heard Wicd mentioned a few times, is it really better than the installed network manager?

The latest release knetworkmanager is a vast improvement over the previous releases (which didn't work at all). However, it safe to say that WICD is really, really, really better than knetworkmanager.

I've been using knetworkmanager on one of my laptops without problems but if you're having some, can't hurt to switch. If the problems don't go away you'll know for sure it's something other than the network manager.

I've noticed that WICD is available in Kpackagekit, if I was to install it I presume I would have to uninstall Knetwork Manager?
