Finding out what is in the swap file?

Hi all.

I have recently become accustomed to hibernating (i.e suspend to disk) my laptop instead of shutting it down. I have noted that upon waking up, a very small amount (a few Mbs) of swap remain used, and on subsequent hibernate/wake operations this increases bit by bit. To put it into perspective after several hibernate/wake operations about 60 Mbs out of 2Gb of swap remain in use.

It's not a big deal but I am curious about what is occupying the space and wonder whether there is any command I could use to find out?

Just guessing, but use dd to copy it to a text file?

You might have to turn swap off, but if you turn swap off the data might go away.
