GIMP Doesn't Run !

Hello;

I installed GIMP via Synaptic and tried to run the program. I get a bouncing icon and program bar on the status bar then, after about 10 seconds, both disappear. I tried to run it from a terminal and it throws a segmentation error. What is that, and how do I fix it? Thanks in advance.

Don't know why it works, but go to
System Settings >> Application Appearance >> GTK+ Appearance
and change the theme to Raleigh
Run Gimp once
close gimp and change the theme back

that got me to thinking.
I have very few crashes and I usually do not change themes or anything, maybe color of the panel or something but almost never change from the default theme...hmmmm
